Random Acts of Kindness – Volume 5

It’s the fifth and final volume of our Random Acts of Kindness series, and over the last few weeks we’ve seen kindness on a whole new level. From a helpful barman in Dublin, to a caring woman in Kelowna, from an incredible teenager in England, to a waste management company in the Ohio.

This week, we’re staying in the US, but this time heading to Denver, Colorado to see how the police department there are giving a helping hand rather than ruling with an iron fist.

In association with Advance Auto Parts, the Denver PD has launched a new program in which drivers who get pulled over for a minor vehicle issue could be given a gift card and not a ticket.

The cop has the option to forego a ticket and instead hand out a $25 auto parts gift card to help get the problem fixed. The idea behind the program is for the police department to work with the community and to make it a stronger and safer place.

A $25 dollar gift card isn’t a lot when it comes to repairing your car, but it’s a start and exactly what we want to see as part of our random acts of kindness series.

In this day and age, many of us are caught up in our own lives, forgetting that the simplest of things can make the most significant impact on someone else.

A random act of kindness doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. Something as simple as a smile towards someone on the street could make a tough day for them a lot better.

If you turn on the news or are scrolling through your social media timelines, unfortunately a lot of what you’ll see is doom and gloom.

With our Random Acts of Kindness series, we want you to share what you, a family member, a friend or a colleague has done for someone else. It doesn’t have to be someone you know either – it can be anyone or anything who has shared their kindness with the world.
