Hannah Schnabel from our Redmond office is producing a brand new event in February, called Curves in Bloom and she needs her ATCSMC family’s support!
Hannah believes that plus size events and plus size fashion are only just beginning to become common place. “They are needed and I want to provide a place where my community can come together and be their best selves in a supportive and engaging way.”
What is it? Curves in Bloom is an inclusive, one day celebration of all bodies through music, art, dance, self-care workshops, panel discussions and fashion. Not only will there be vendors, workshops, and other fun activities, but Hannah is also creating a collection to walk the runway, mentoring 4 high school students who are creating their own looks for the runway, and is also in talks with some college students! It will be a day of inspiration, self-acceptance.
How can you help?
- Please share her event on social media! (Facebook & Instagram) You may not be able to head to Seattle in February, but maybe someone you know would be interested!
- You can buy a ticket and go to this awesome event: https://www.curvesinbloom.com/What inspired Hannah? My hope is that Curves in Bloom will grow into a multi-day event, and cater to all those who feel excluded by fashion, beauty, and wellness communities due to their size, identity, or gender expression.
- Curves in Bloom began after I was inspired to bring Bevin Branlandingham , aka the Queer Fat Femme and her Fat Kid Dance Party to Seattle after seeing her viral Pop Sugar video. I quickly realized that one dance class wasn’t enough. Seattle is a huge metropolitan area, yet we do not have an all-encompassing event that is geared toward the Plus Size community. How is that possible?! I knew that I had to do it myself. I have a small business named Belle Ampleur, (Instagram/FB @belleampleur) where I hand make custom garments for women of beautiful scale, and I knew that Belle Ampleur needed to be the presenting sponsor for the event. In addition, I wanted to make a difference in my community, so I am partnering with The Ruby Room , a nonprofit organization providing formal attire to teens in financial need across the State of Washington, enabling them to participate in high school milestone events. Teens come from across the state to receive a dress they can keep, at no charge!
Here is a link for some photos from past collections for Belle Ampleur, and also my mood boards for the new collection, which will be revealed at Curves in Bloom. I hope you enjoy them! For the actual event for Curves in Bloom, we will be live streaming the runway show and the panel discussion.
