This week’s recipients: Derrick Bottoms, Sarbjit Chandi, Ana Leiva, Danny Prete, Brian Jacobsen, Mississauga The Receiving and Replenishing Groups, Lori Steeves and Diana Ricaurte, Nick Amin, Walter McQuat
Derrick Bottoms has helped out a lot in keeping receiving clean, stocked with pallets and he’s kept the area the way I reorganized it. He is always willing to drop off paperwork upstairs to the purchasers and when he’s done receiving he’s scanning cages. Whenever I see him he’s always working. This is why I’d like to nominate Derrick.

It is about the daily cycle count. She is the only reason why we were able to finish the completion of cycle count book last year much ahead of the schedule. The average staff can just do an average of 20 sku per hour, but astonishingly with Sarb, she has been consistently doing it (even this year) at an average of 40 skus per hour. With her, I am confident that for this year we can again finish the book much ahead of time.

This is also about the cycle count. Ana is the one doing the recount for the right crew’s evening counts. With her excellent attendance, she never called in sick that may compromise the morning recount. She never put me in a situation whereby the counts by the night crew were wasted because of her sudden absence the next morning. One more thing that I admire about her is her determination to finish the counts before due time no matter what, she is always consistent on this aspect.

Danny always makes sure everything is done fast and productively. He works himself way harder than he needs to make sure everyone is set at their stations and the work is getting done. Don’t think we’d get by without him. “Great Work.”

I cannot imagine SanMar without Brian. Brian is a hard-worker. His dedication to work is amazing. He never leaves any issues unsolved. He always finds solutions to all problems I bring to his attention. Whenever I have doubts, I know I can turn to him for advice. He is able to explain everything in a simple and approachable way. He is the inspiration for my approach to work and work ethics. I am very grateful for that.

I would like to nominate Lori Steeves and Diana Ricaurte for the Authentic Appreciation award.
I was having a bad day earlier in March and both Lori and Diana, separately, took time to speak with me. They both listened to me and had some great advice. The help was greatly appreciated.
To the both of you I thank you very much!

The Pricing Team presented NICK AMIN with the January 2017 Employee of the Month award which includes Certificate of excellence and a fancy shiny glass “Welcome” sign (Welcome All who enter here) for his desk when customers arrive.
Nick is a great example of what it means to be service first and a genuine human being that we are lucky to work with. Customers come to SanMar Canada because of people like Nick…because they feel comfortable and know that he will make sure they are always taken care of.
Thank you NICK, Excellent work as usual.

The Pricing Team presented Walter McQuat with our employee of the month award today. Luckily they were celebrating a birthday in the lunch room (the entire ops team) and we presented it to him in front of the whole crew. Walter has a very infectious personality and we always enjoy working with him and getting into conversation about how good the morning is J. The “ I pretend to work picture” that he can hang up, describes his sense of humor especially when you catch him at 6 AM in the morning J
Walter, thank you for all that you do!

I would like to show some appreciation to TC Seow. He was in the AE area in Vancouver doing some IT maintenance on our computers when a customer walked in from the showroom and made a beeline for TC asking for help with a product as he was the first warm body the customer could see. Rather than turn the customer away, or tell him that this wasn’t his job, TC offered to try to help out the customer. I jumped in at this point, but I thought he put on great display of teamwork and an understanding of putting the customers above all else. TC truly understands SanMar’s Values, Vision, and Mission.
Way to go, TC!
