Happy Pride Month from the SanMar Canada Family!
During the month of June, the LGBTQ community celebrates in a number of different ways, and events are held to recognize the influence LGBTQ people have had around the world.
LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and the month-long celebration offers an opportunity to peacefully protest and raise awareness of issues facing the community.
Parades are set to take place during June and there are community events, street festivals, educational sessions and public speaking which attract the attention of millions of people.
Canada is home to about one million people who identify as members of the LGBTQ community, and in 2005, the Canadian Parliament passed legislation making same-sex marriage legal nationwide.
It takes courage to stand up for who you are, so flaunt your true identity, feel proud of it, and Happy Pride Month.
