Remembrance Day – November 11th

Tomorrow (11th), we pause to honour those who have served and continue to serve Canadians as part of the armed forces.

Every year, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, people gather to remember all those who have fallen.

With certain public health restrictions still in place, health and safety should be put first while observing Remembrance Day, but you can still pay tribute by:

  • Wearing a poppy
  • Sharing your thanks online by using #Remembrance Day
  • Observing a moment of silence at 11:00

In 1921, the poppy was adopted as the flower of remembrance, meaning this year marks the 100th anniversary of the remembrance poppy in Canada.

Remembrance Day marks the end of the First World War in 1918, but we also remember those who fought for Canada in Second World War, the Korean War, as well as those who have served since then.

More than 2.3 million Canadians have served our country in this way, and more than 118,000 have died.

They gave their tomorrow, so we could have our today. Lest we forget.
