The work week is almost over, and with the weather looking good for the next few days, it’s the perfect time to start exploring the activities and events your city and province has to offer.
Since last Spring, many attractions in Vancouver, Calgary and Mississauga have been impacted by the pandemic, but as the world slowly re-opens, there’s plenty happening this weekend.
Remember: Due to a number of public health restrictions still in place, some of the events listed below are in-person, online and drive-in, so check directly with organizers before making plans.
We’ve put together the top five things (in no particular order) to do over the next few days:
Vancouver/British Columbia
- Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours – guided tours in downtown Vancouver.
- Carnaval del Sol – Vancouver’s annual Latin festival with free concerts and other cultural activities.
- KitsFest – a three-day sports festival at Kitsilano Beach.
- Abbotsford Airshow – one of the largest airshows in Canada.
- Chilliwack Fair and Rodeo – the 146th country fair features music, animals, food and antiques.
Calgary/Alberta
- Calgary Fringe Festival – theatre acts from all across the globe.
- Alberta on the Plate – province wide festival celebrating local food and drink.
- Calgary Stampeders v Toronto Argonauts – CFL action returns to McMahon Stadium.
- Floating Lantern Peace Ceremony – event in memory of those impacted by atomic bombs in Japan.
- Hoppy Night Beer Festival – food and drink festival courtesy of local brewers.
Mississauga/Ontario
- SummerWorks Performance Festival – festival of theatre, dance, music, and live art.
- Jerk Fest 2021 – showcases cuisine in an authentic Jamaican style.
- EstateDanza 2021 Showcase – music/dance from the EstateDanza summer intensive dancers.
- Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays – MLB action from the Rogers Centre.
- Family Drive-In Movie Night – watch Aladdin (2019) in your car at the Caledon Fairgrounds.
