World Health Day

Today marks World Health Day, and each year, a theme is selected to highlight a priority area of public health concern in the world.

This year, the World Health Organization will focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.

World Health Day is a global initiative for our planet and for our health, and The Social Committee is providing healthy snacks for our teams today (7th), available in the lunchrooms in all of our locations.

Listen to your body: make sure you’re getting enough physical activity, sleep and eating healthy.

World Health Day is about creating awareness about the health issues of those in poorer regions worldwide, as well as reminding us to be grateful for our health and to better take care of ourselves.

The World Health Organization estimates that more than 13 million deaths around the world each year are due to avoidable environmental causes, and here are a few more stats:

  • 100 million – the number of people who survive on $1.90 or less a day.
  • 6.6 million – the number of children around the world who die due to weak healthcare systems.
  • 2195 – the number of children around the world who die from diarrhea.
  • 800 – the number of women who die every day due to pregnancy complications.

World Health Day is an important day to reflect on your own health.
